well, well, well…
November 12th, 2006So it’s November already. I can’t believe the summer is already over, it goes by so much faster when you are working full time. Benet is going back for Thanksgiving this month, but I decided to stay here since we are both going back to California for Christmas for a full two weeks. We are leaving Denver on Dec. 21st and getting back on Jan. 2nd. I’m looking forward to having two weeks of paid vacation and seeing my family.
Last month we finished up our Ultimate Frisbee Intramurals season at CU and took first place in the coed-c league. That was kind of exciting since I played a season at Davis and we made it to the playoffs, but lost to the championship team. Benet was pretty excited because we all got shirts at the end of the season, especially because the shirt proves that she is good at a sport. We had a celebration dinner at Cafe Gondolier a week ago, where Kai managed to finish four plates of spaghetti.
Halloween pictures are up on my gallery page here. We went to the annual party at the “Ithaca” house. I was vampire/skeleton undead thing and Benet was an eighties witch (see the gold glittering sweater?). There were some other cool costumes including duffman, the flying spaghetti monster, and of course Borat.
Benet and I walked to the middle school down the street last Tuesday to put in our votes. I was happy that our precinct was so close. Also happy to see the outcome of the midterm elections, but kind of disappointed to see referendum I get shot down (legal rights for same sex couples). I was kind of expecting this given most of the people in Colorado outside of Boulder are in the far right, but the law seemed so harmless (it did not authorize gay marriage, just provided important legal rights for same sex couples) so I thought it had a chance.
Checked out the Cherry Creek mall in downtown Denver yesterday. Benet wanted to look at some “wellies” (boots) that they had at JCrew. I ended up buying a nice, long sleeve shirt and she ended up changing her mind about the boots. It was our first time shopping in Denver; next time we are going to go earlier so we can check out Larimer Square. We weren’t too impressed with Cherry Creek; I think we both decided that the Flatirons mall that is closer to our house has pretty much all the same stuff.
It has only snowed two or three days here so far. Last week it was in the sixties and seventies all week, which was great. It looks like the next few weeks are going to get pretty cold though, especially with another storm coming in from the pacific. I bought new poles and got my dad’s old boots and skis, so I’m ready for when the snow hits. A-Basin took the record for first resort to open this year.
So that’s pretty much all I have to write about - I know it doesn’t make up for the six month gap, but maybe Vince will stop bugging me.
update: oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I finally took my OCA (oracle certified associate) exam and passed last Tuesday. Pretty exciting since I have been studying for a long time. Next exam on the list is the OCP (oracle certified professional).
The sad reality of growing old. Going bald at 23.
